Rastafest Musical INDIVIDUAL ARTIST Showcase Contest

CONTEST PERIOD:

No Purchase Necessary. The Rastafest Musical Artist Showcase Contest (the “Contest”) commences 12:00:01 AM EDT on April 13, 2017 and ends at 11:59:59 PM EDT on August 20, 2017 (the “Contest Period”). This contest is brought to you by Rastafest (the “Contest Sponsor”).

ELIGIBILITY:

The Contest is open to Permanent Canadian Residents, who have reached the age of majority in their Province or Territory of residence at the time of Contest entry. Notwithstanding the above, this Contest is not open to employees (and those with whom they are domiciled) of the Contest Sponsor and each of their respective divisions, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising, and promotional agencies.

HOW TO ENTER: 

To enter, you must register your Artist name, contact name, email address, and telephone number along with a video link of a performance featuring an original song, then click ’Enter’ to register. Entry must be received no later than April 30, 2017 at 11:59:59 PM (EDT) in order to be eligible for entry into the public voting.

Entries must be received within the Contest Period. Limit of one (1) entry per artist. Entry will be rejected if registration is not fully completed and submitted during the Contest Period. Contest Sponsor reserves the right to deny an entry if the video performance is deemed inappropriate for the contest.

WINNER SELECTION PROCESS:

All eligible entries received during the Contest Period will be voted on by the public through Facebook to determine the overall winners. Voting to the public opens on May 1, 2017 at 12:00:01 AM (EDT) and closes on May 21, 2017 at 11:59:59 PM (EDT). The top 6 finalists (3 males and 3 females) will be determined by total overall votes received during the Contest Period for a chance to perform a 30 minute set at the Rastafest in the Village event on either August 19, 2017 or August 20, 2017 in Toronto. Date and time to be confirmed through Contest Sponsor. The Individual Artist will be required to rehearse his/her songs with the Rastafest All-Star Band approximately two weeks prior to the event (Date/time/location) to be confirmed through the Contest Sponsor. If the Individual Artist is unable to attend the rehearsal or event performance based on the schedule provided by the Contest Sponsor, they will be eliminated from the contest and the next Individual Artist with the most votes will be deemed a finalist and contacted by the Contest Sponsor. All costs associated with attending rehearsal and performing at Rastafest in the Village, including transportation, accommodation and meals are at the sole expense of the Individual Artists.

During Rastafest in the Village, the six (6) Individual Artists will be voted by a selected panel of judges based on their live performance to determine the three (3) overall Grand Prize winners who will perform in Jamaica at the Jamaica Music Conference, November 9, 2017 to November 12, 2017.

THE PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE

Rastafest in the Village Performance Prize: Each one of the top six (6) Individual Artist finalists as voted on by the public through Facebook during the Contest Period will be paid $300.00 CDN by the Contest Sponsor to perform a 30 minute set at Rastafest in the Village on either August 19, 2017 or August 20, 2017.

Jamaica Music Conference Grand Prize: 

The top three overall Individual Artist winners as voted on by a select panel of judges during Rastafest in the Village will perform in Jamaica at the Jamaica Music Conference, November 9, 2017 to November 12, 2017 all-expenses paid including airfare, accommodation, transportation, performance fee and per diem as determined by the Contest Sponsor. The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $2,000.00. Expenses paid are for the Individual Artists only. Any other guests of an Artist who would like to attend may do so at their own sole expense.

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the declared winners shall be responsible for the costs of everything not specifically stated above as included in the Grand Prize, including, without limitation, medical insurance, gratuities, entertainment, items of a personal nature, incidentals and any and all other expenses not specified in the description of the Grand Prize.  Contest Sponsor recommends that the declared winners obtain medical and accident insurance.

The Grand Prize may not be exchanged for cash, is non-transferable, non-saleable, and must be accepted as awarded. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any prize, or part thereof, for a prize of equal or greater value.

METHOD OF AWARDING

Rastafest in the Village Prize:

On June 1, 2017, in Toronto, ON at 10:00am AM EDT, the Contest Sponsor will determine the top six (6) finalists eligible to perform at Rastafest in the Village from the total number of public votes that were cast through Facebook. Three (3) attempts will be made by the Contest Sponsor representative to contact the six winners by e-mail and/or telephone on June 1, 2017. The Prize will be forfeited by the eligible winner if that eligible winner cannot be contacted within the three attempts. Odds of winning depend on the total number of public votes received by an Individual Artist during the Contest Period.

Each finalist will be required to sign and return by June 5, 2017 at 1:00 PM (EDT) (at the selected Artists sole cost and risk) the Contest Sponsor’s declaration and release, which (among other things): (i) confirms compliance with these Official Contest Rules (the “Rules”); (ii) acknowledges acceptance of the Rastafest in the Village Prize as awarded; (iii) releases the Contest Parties and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Releases”) from any and all liability in connection with this Contest, the selected entrant’s participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the Prizes or any portion thereof; (iv) agrees to the publication, reproduction and/or other use of the selected entrant’s name, email address, voice, statements about the Contest and/or photograph or other likeness without further notice or compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by the Contest Sponsor in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast or the internet; and (v) requires the selected entrant to correctly answer the mathematical skill-testing question included on the declaration and release form, without mechanical or other aid.  If a selected entrant: (a) fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question; and/or (b) fails to return the properly executed Contest documents within the specified time, then he/she will forfeit the Prize with no liability to the Contest Sponsor whatsoever. In such event, the Contest Sponsor will contact the next Individual Artist with most public votes and declare him/her a winner. Once completed, winner is required to send the properly executed declaration and release forms via the fax number that appears on the form for receipt by Contest Sponsor within the time limit specified above.

Jamaica Music Conference Grand Prize:

On August 21, 2017, the three (3) overall Individual Artist winners as voted on by a panel of judges during Rastafest in the Village event will be contacted by the Contest Sponsor.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

By participating, entrants agree to a) be bound by these Official Contest Rules and the decisions of the Contest Sponsor which are final in all respects; and b) irrevocably release, indemnify and hold harmless the Contest Sponsor and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, dealers, advertising, ticketing and promotional agencies and prize suppliers from all liability relating to the Contest, participation in the Contest and the acceptance or use, misuse, or possession of the Prize. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations.

The Contest Sponsor and its dealers, advertising, ticketing and promotional agencies and prize suppliers shall not be responsible for errors in any Contest-related materials. All entries become the property of the Contest Sponsor, which assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected incomplete, illegible entries, emails or for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any entry to be received by the Contest Sponsor on account of technical problems or mobile traffic congestion or any combination thereof. Any attempt to deliberately damage or undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are falsified, altered or tampered with in any way.

The Contest Sponsor is collecting personal data about entrants for the sole purpose of administering this contest and by entering this contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Contest Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal data submitted for this purpose. No further informational or marketing communications will be received by entrants unless entrants provide explicit permission as indicated on the entry form.

Rastafest Musical BAND Showcase Contest

Voting to the public opens on May 1, 2017 at 12:00:01 AM (EDT) and closes on May 21, 2017 at 11:59:59 PM (EDT). The top eight (8) Bands will move onto the ‘Showcase Showdown’ and be required to perform live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, May 28, 2017 starting at 4:00pm at the Sankofa Bar, 1653 Eglinton Avenue West (at Glenholme Avenue).

Scheduled time for the ‘Showcase Showdown’ to be determined and confirmed through Contest Sponsor. If the Band is unable to attend the ‘Showcase Showdown’ based on the schedule provided by the Contest Sponsor, they will be eliminated from the contest and the next Band with the most public votes will be deemed a finalist and contacted by the Contest Sponsor to participate in the ‘Showcase Showdown’. All costs associated with attending the ‘Showcase Showdown’, including transportation, accommodation and meals are at the sole expense of the Band. PA system and back line will be provided. Each band will be allocated 30 minutes for their performance. If a band is late for their scheduled performance time, they will be eliminated from the ‘Showcase Showdown’.

During the ‘Showcase Showdown’, a panel of judges will vote on the top three (3) finalists to perform live at the Rastafest is the Village event on either August 19, 2017 or August 20, 2017.  Date and performance time to be confirmed through Contest Sponsor.

During Rastafest in the Village, the three (3) finalists will be voted on by a select panel of judges based on their live performance to determine the one overall Grand Prize winner who will perform in Jamaica at the Jamaica Music Conference, November 9, 2017 to November 12, 2017.

The one overall Grand Prize winner as voted on by a select panel of judges during Rastafest in the Village will perform in Jamaica at the Jamaica Music Conference, November 9, 2017 to November 12, 2017 all-expenses paid including airfare, accommodation, transportation, performance fee and per diem as determined by the Contest Sponsor. The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $2,000.00 per Band member. Expenses paid are for Band members only. Any other Band guests who would like to attend do so at their own cost.
